Royal Caribbean calls Utopia of the Seas “the world’s biggest weekend,” promising nonstop partying on three- and four-night Bahamas itineraries sailing from Port Canaveral, near Orlando. And indeed, there was no rest on board during a debut voyage, which included a celebratory ceremony for the ship’s godmother, Meghan Trainor.

About the liner

During your three nights on board Utopia of the Seas, you can discover a variety of cuisines and activities offered by more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges. Even in a short time, you can visit several unique venues and enjoy the atmosphere of various shows and spontaneous parties - from Las Vegas-style daytime entertainment to games of beer pong. However, it is impossible to visit all the places and activities in such a short time.

Advice for those planning a cruise on this liner: don’t try to do everything. Instead, choose a few events from the daily program that interest you and enjoy the journey at your own pace. The Aqua80sToo show and dinner at the Royal Railway restaurant, a new and unique place on Royal Caribbean ships, are definite “must-haves” on board.

Now let's take a closer look at the impressive entertainment and things to consider when planning your cruise on Utopia of the Seas.

Cabins

Utopia of the Seas has 20 different types of cabins, ranging from interior rooms with “digital windows” that broadcast real-time ocean views to spacious suites with plenty of amenities. The only question is whether you plan to spend time in your cabin or explore the ship. If you plan to be active and return only to your room for sleep, a small room will be enough. However, if you want privacy, consider the new Solarium Suites with panoramic sea views and 270-degree views.

Bars and restaurants

Utopia of the Seas has over 40 restaurants, bars and lounges offering a variety of food and drink options. You can find everything from sushi at Izumi to Italian at Giovanni's and burgers at Johnny Rockets. The main restaurant offers dinner with no reservations required.

For those who prefer a quick bite, there is the 24-hour Windjammer Cafe buffet, Mexican eatery Cantina Fresca, Sorrento's pizzeria and a food truck by the pool.

Of particular note is the Pesky Parrot Bar, a tiki bar on the main deck with cocktails served on ice and frozen. It is worth noting that most bars on board are so noisy that you have to raise your voice.

Dinner show at the Royal Railway restaurant

The Royal Railway restaurant on the liner is worth mentioning – an immersive dinner show with no analogues on cruises. It all starts with the delivery of a ticket to your cabin, and when you approach the restaurant, your name appears on the board. The conductor checks the tickets and seats you in the dining car, creating the illusion of a train ride.

This interactive show immerses guests in the atmosphere of the Wild West, with plans for new themes such as a journey along the Silk Road. The unique restaurant format is a real find for cruise travel.

Utopia of the Seas routes

Homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida, Utopia offers three- and four-night itineraries to the Bahamas. Three-night cruises include a stop at Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, while four-night itineraries add a stop in Nassau. It's also possible to combine multiple itineraries to create a weeklong trip.

Shore excursions

A trip to Perfect Day at CocoCay is part of an itinerary that offers Royal Caribbean passengers a unique experience. This private island has areas with different atmospheres. There is a water park for families and thrill-seekers with the tallest water slide in North America, as well as a beach area called Chill Island for a more relaxed vacation. For adults, there is a private beach called Hideaway Beach, where parties take place. Active vacationers can enjoy excursions such as jet skiing, snorkeling, or even swimming with pigs.

Entertainment and amenities on board

Utopia offers a wide range of entertainment and facilities, including swimming pools, water slides, a FlowRider surfing simulator, climbing walls, escape rooms, laser tag, mini golf and much more. However, the Aqua80sToo show, which takes place in the AquaTheater, deserves special attention. This is an impressive show in which acrobats perform complex tricks to the backdrop of 80s hits, including high dives into the water and breathtaking aerial acts. This show is impressive and will make you want to return to the ship again.

There are also plenty of other entertainment options on board, such as comedy shows at The Attic, a piano player at the Schooner Bar, and a rock band performing in the Music Hall. There is always some kind of show or event going on in every corner of the ship, making it impossible to experience everything on offer in one cruise.

Family Fun

While Royal Caribbean has traditionally offered family cruises, Utopia of the Seas is geared more toward adults and teens. There are family-friendly areas on board, such as the Splashaway Bay water park and the Adventure Ocean kids' club, but the ship's overall atmosphere is more party-oriented and active, making it less suitable for very young children.

Availability

Utopia of the Seas features 46 accessible cabins with widened doorways, wheelchair-accessible showers, lowered sinks, and special visual and tactile signaling systems. The ship also features portable public address systems for passengers with hearing or vision impairments.

Utopia of the Seas is a ship where fun and entertainment never stops, offering a unique experience for both active holidaymakers and those who simply want to relax and enjoy the sea voyage.
